Scholarship for Wisconsin University College students is launched Now

Level 300 and 400 students at Wisconsin International University College – Ghana (WIUC-GH) would benefit from a scholarship opportunity to cover tuition fees, as well as mentorship opportunities. 

The scholarship, now in its second year, is an initiative of Mahogany Consult, a Ghana-based public relations, events, and change management firm, in collaboration with the Future Communicators Foundation (FCF) Scholarship, a non-profit organization based in Canada.

The candidates are asked to create a communication campaign centered on the theme “Campaign on the theme using inexpensive resources to inspire action and drive meaningful behavioral change in Ghana”.

This year’s scholarship theme is “Communicating the Climate Crisis: Motivating and Measuring Behavioural Change.”

Entries will be judged, and victors will receive their two-year tuition price as well as mentoring possibilities from Mahogany Consult.

The deadline for applications is October 31, 2024, with the winners being announced on November 12, 2024.

Millicent Akunor, Communications Manager at Mahogany Consult, announced the scholarship’s launch and emphasized the firm’s commitment to the project, saying, “We are excited to facilitate this scholarship opportunity once again and look forward to the innovative campaigns students will develop to address climate challenges.”

“At Mahogany Consult, we believe in nurturing the next generation of communicators and supporting the growth of the communications industry in Ghana, West Africa and beyond,” according to her.

Allard W. van Veen, Founder of the PR Trust, the non-profit organization that runs the Future Communicators Foundation, emphasized the importance of sustainability in today’s society.

He noted that public relations professionals may play a significant role in promoting sustainability, saying, “We hope that the scholarship will help to develop students’ social conscience and encourage them to make an impact, in terms of promoting a fair and sustainable world”.

Professor Kwame Karikari, a senior faculty member at WIUC-GH’s School of Communication Studies, praised the facilitators for their nice gesture.

“This scholarship not only nurtures the next generation of communicators but also encourages them to contribute meaningfully to the pressing issue of climate change,” added the professor.
