About Scholarship
Every year, Gates Cambridge provides about eighty fully-funded scholarships to deserving applicants from non-UK nations so they can attend the University of Cambridge and pursue postgraduate degrees in any subject. About twenty-five scholarships were awarded in the U.S. application round and fifty-five in the international round; two-thirds of these are granted to Ph.D. candidates.
Degree Level
There are fully funded scholarships available for Masters, PhD, and diploma programs at the University of Cambridge under the Gates Cambridge Scholarship UK 2024–2025.

The following courses can be taken as part of this scholarship program.

Courses tha Gate Cambridge does NOT Consider:
- Any undergraduate degree, such as a BA (undergraduate) or BA affiliated (a second BA),
- Business Doctorate (BusD)
- Master of Business (MBA)
- Master of Finance (MFin)
- MASt courses: PGCE, MBBChir Clinical Studies, MD Doctor of Medicine degree (6 years, part-time, home students only)
- Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)
- Part-time degrees other than the PhD non-degree courses

Students of all nationalities, both domestic and foreign, are eligible to apply for this Scholarship
Scholarship Benefits
All educational expenses at Cambridge are fully funded by a Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Moreover, it offers extra, flexible finance.
Core Components
the university composition fee at the appropriate rate.
- A maintenance allowance for a single student (£20,000 for 12 months at the 2023–24 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months): for PhD scholars, the award is for up to 4 years.
- one economy, single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course
- inbound visa costs and the cost of the immigration health surcharge
The exact amounts of the University Composition Fee vary depending on the type of student; prospective students should refer to the Graduate Studies prospectus for complete information. The Trust will either not pay the student’s fee or it may split the cost of the tuition and maintenance if the student is successful in receiving a fee award from public bodies (such the UKRI).

Discretionary Component
- Discretionary proposals for other forms of supplementary funding are also taken into consideration by the Trust.
- Funding for academic development: Depending on the length of your course, you may be eligible for up to £2,000 in order to attend conferences and courses.
- Dependent Children Allowance (2023–24 rate): maximum of £11,604 for one child and maximum of £16,548 for two or more. A partner receives no funding.
- Fieldwork: If you are completing fieldwork for your Ph.D., you may be eligible to keep your regular maintenance allowance during that time. Other fieldwork expenses should be covered by the University Composition Fee, not by the Trust.
- If necessary, you can apply for maternity/paternity financing, which allows you to pause your studies for up to six months while still receiving your maintenance allowance.

Receiving a Salary or Substantial other Scholarship?
The Trust will not pay the usual maintenance allowance if you have another significant scholarship or are earning a salary from an employer. In the event that you get any money for your degree at Cambridge, you should notify the Trust right away.
What is Not Covered?
The majority of expenses are paid for by the scholarship; however, bench fees, scientific equipment charges, and other comparable academic resources are not covered by Gates Cambridge. The Trust anticipates that the Cambridge academic department will pay for these basic course expenses.

Who can Apply?
The following qualify you to apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship:
- A national of any nation other than the United Kingdom
- Applying to the University of Cambridge to enroll in any of the following courses: * Doctorate (full-time or part-time) MLitt (full-time) full-time, one-year postgraduate program, with a few exceptions listed below
- Gates Cambridge is keeping up a pilot program that lets candidates seek for funding for a part-time doctorate beginning in October 2024.

Are You a Current Cambridge Student?
You can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you are a current Cambridge student and would like to apply to a new postgraduate program. For instance, you can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue a PhD if you are currently pursuing an MPhil. If a current Gates Cambridge Scholar is applying for a new degree, they may also apply for a second scholarship. For the second, worldwide round, all current Cambridge students will be taken into account. In the event that you are presently halfway through a PhD, for example, you are not eligible to apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to complete the remaining portion of the program.
General Funding at Cambridge
Regardless of your eligibility for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship, the University of Cambridge may still be able to help you with alternative funds.
